QBO Tip: Shortcut to the P&L Detail

QBO Tip: Shortcut to the P&L Detail

Here at Numbers in Boxes we’ve done a bunch of customized QuickBooks Online tutorials (want one? Ask us!) and this is what we tend to see when folks go to access their P&L: They go to Reports and then Favorites and then click on Profit and Loss and then they’re done. That’s a great, quick way to see your P&L for the month, but what if you also want an equally great and quick way to see the P&L Detail for the month, right after you’ve looked at the P&L itself? Well, just scroll down to the bottom of the P&L where Net Income will be hyperlinked. Click this link and voila! You will be instantly transported to the P&L Detail. Clicking this shortcut to the P&L Detail is much more efficient than backing out of the P&L and starting from scratch by scrolling down to the separate link for the P&L Detail (which we’ve seen) and it totally beats the pants off of exiting Reports altogether, meandering over to the Chart of Accounts, and running a report for each and every Income & Expense account to get the detail for the month (which we’ve also seen, which of course doesn’t give you the same all-in-one benefit of the P&L Detail. Plus, it’s exhausting). So, next time, give this little shortcut a try!
